The Dreaming Heretic

I Quit My Job Today

I essentially quit my job this morning. I walked in and the prep cooler was still broken. Again, I was put in a position of begging other stores for ice. The owner didn't have the decency to respond to me directly and deleted my message from yesterday about the problem. I was pretty fed up and walked out after sending a message in the group chat about me leaving and not returning until I have functioning equipment to do the job I was hired for (so, never). Faith, the owner, tried calling me while I was in the shower and sent a message in the group chat that looked like an attempt to argue. Truth be told, if I don't have a functioning production line, I don't have materials, I don't have space, and other problems from the past few days, I cannot effectively perform my job duties. I am not willing to be in a dogshit environment for $14.50/hr and working shifts where there are no tips and low sales. I can make more money doing something more comfortable.

I have been considering the positions available at State Farm in Bexley with Theresa Bush. She was impressed by my walking in last week. I think walking in again today would be good for me. I need to prove my qualifications for the sales position by selling myself to her. If I am going to work for her, I need to show that I am willing to work for her. Obtaining the licenses are going to cost me some money that I don't exactly have yet, but I can acquire the money. I have a health and accident insurance license in Ohio, which should be good enough for me to start working with. I can also afford to start the training for the other licenses. Each portion seems to be $200 for education and maybe $50 for the tests. I can manage that.

Last night, I ordered a couple of bike parts so I can do food deliveries on my bicycle. I will receive everything on Sunday. If I can make $100 per week door dashing, then I will be in great shape to get started. I really only need to survive for one month on a low budget. After that, I will have full-time local employment. But, also I don't really need more than $400 per month to get by. I can maintain my current lifestyle at $400 per month. Rent is $300 and my gym + phone bills are $63 combined.

Things are fine. I have two months to make another $300 and find a job. The grind is real, but I have the ability to parlay the situation into something livable, provided I apply myself.
